Sponsorship Information
What is the COG Child Sponsorship Program?
All schools in Uganda require tuition, uniforms and pencils for attendance. Because so many have died of AIDS, no one has the resources to take on the additional burden of the orphaned child's education. COG is dedicated to the welfare of the total child.
Your sponsorship pays for school fees, a uniform, school supplies and a daily lunch. For many children, this is often their only meal.
In addition, Children of Grace ensures your sponsored child will receive one medical check-up per year with further evaluation and medication if needed, including anti-retroviral drugs for HIV/AIDS treatment. Your sponsorship is truly a gift of life for these desperate, deserving children.
What will I receive in return for my sponsorship?
When you sponsor a child, you will receive a picture and profile of the child, a report card and correspondence from the child.
One child at a time you can make a difference in the life of an orphan of HIV/AIDS by providing hope for his/her future.
How much does it cost?
Your contribution of $35 a month or $420 a year will provide benefits and services for your individual sponsored child. At the project level, sponsor contributions are combined to fund projects that benefit your sponsored child's school and environment.
You may pay your sponsorship monthly or annually, by credit card or by check.
Your Sponsorship Matters!
A special message from Sue Garrett, Child Sponsorship Coordinator
I was standing in the middle of the courtyard of a secondary school in Jinja, Uganda waiting to meet with a few COG sponsored students. Suddenly, a classroom door burst open and a tall boy came running at me with his arms stretched wide. The next thing I knew, I was being swung around with much joy and laughter. He assumed I was his sponsor, and he was excited to show his gratitude!
When visiting a primary school, I was shown one of our newly sponsored girls, who had a terrible open sore that seemed to engulf her lower left leg. I learned that she had been suffering with the infection for quite some time and had missed a lot of school. It was because of COG sponsorship that we were able to get her seen by a competent doctor, who treated her right away. She was promised further care if needed. The sponsorship undoubtedly saved her leg!
These are just two of the memorable occurrences I was able to experience as your representative in Uganda in June.
As I took pictures and talked to as many of our children as I could, the gratitude expressed for being able to go to school, for new uniforms and shoes, for extra food, for help with their guardians, and for medical treatment was overwhelming.
You are doing wonderful work with your sponsorship!
I wish all of you could have the experience of personally conveying the love and compassion that accompanies your donations.
Thank you for letting me have this joy in your name!
