Letter Writing Ideas

Children of Grace students are delighted to receive words of encouragement from their sponsors. Through letter writing, children and sponsors develop close relationships and learn what life is like in another part of the world. Sponsor children treasure these letters, and look forward to receiving each new one. However, for sponsors it can be challenging to write the “perfect” letter.

Need new ideas? Here are a few:
• Share stories about yourself when you were your sponsor child’s age. Include a photo of yourself from this age (children love photos).
• Describe a recent holiday or family gathering.
• Share a funny pet story.
• Talk about favorite sports, games, or hobbies.
• Talk about your church.
• Share favorite Bible verses, and stories.
We encourage letter writing to be done as frequently as possible. Host a gathering with other child sponsors in your area, and discuss letter themes. Sit down with your family and take turns adding something to the letter. Regardless of what you write about, your child will be thrilled to hear from you! In every letter, remind them of God’s love and great plans for their lives, and that you keep them in your daily prayers!
